How to: Drive across a puddle with pride!

Posted on 10 February 2009 by admin

Morning all, please leave a comment, even if it is just to say hi!

The weather is terrible here; according to some people. This morning all the roads were flooded.

Hang on a minute, roads floaded? Terrible? I think not!

There is nothing better than carefully piloting your own vehicle through a small lake in the road with the water coming up from the wheel arches and proudly watching your small bow wave lap against the wall of bushes that mark the edge of the road whilst humming the “Flight of the Valkyrie’s” to yourself and imagining that you are in some sort of beach landing craft or extreme 4×4.

Unfortunately on the other side of this puddle (small lake) is just normal tarmac and you start to realise that you should really get out more, I also hope that someone else has thought this – otherwise I have a feeling that those nice men with white coats will be visiting soon.

I am starting to worry that this blog is dragging. Perhaps because that’s how I feel life is right now. Kind of on hold again, waiting for this to happen before that can happen. Please do not fear readers! I shall be on my travels soon.

Here is an offer to all of you;

I am offering out a wee guest post that I will upload later this week. So, if you have travelled yourself or want to raise a topic that you think should be mentioned then please scribble some words down and email it to saxy.si@gmail.com
If you have your own blog I’ll put a link up to that as well. All ideas will be considered and things with pretty pictures may also grab attention as will controversial ideas.

Happy Travelling

    You are not crazy! My husband lives for these small lakes in the road, I think he likes to hear me squealing from the passenger’s seat, although sometimes he purposely rolls down the window when I have my eyes closed just to splash me! I dont think its a sign of craziness, just a guy thing! Enjoy it, if it makes you smile!!

  2. OverlandSi Says:

    @Nikki, Haha – I have been caught out a few times when I have had the window open and just got a near faceful of water!

    I think the men in white coats are edging ever nearer though!

    flooded streets are all sorts of fun! I remember plowing into one, and soaking my engine. The car wouldn’t run – I called for a tow, and then by the time the truck got there the giant puddle was gone, my car was dry, and i could just drive off. Ai ya.

  9. OverlandSi Says:

    hi.

    where are you travelling to next?

  11. OverlandSi Says:

    @Constructive Attitude – I will be off to Nesselwang in Germany for some skiing next week for one week, after that I have no real plan as to where I will actually travel. A lot of it just depends on how I’m feeling. I’m hoping to do a bit of Scandinavia and some of Eastern Europe.

    I love the ‘side wakes’ from the car.

    Am looking forward to you posting pics as I haven’t seen Europe in 15 years and I bet a lot has changed.

    Have fun skiing.

  17. OverlandSi Says:

    @Kareer Woman – thanks!

    @Lou – Where did you go when you were in Europe last? Wait a minute, I see a guest post submission opportunity here lol.

  18. Robbie Says:

    Haha
    Awesome blog, had me in fits of laughter.
    And so totally agree on opinions on weather. Some people complain when it snows here… complain!!!
    How do they not appreciate the joys of building snowmen then throwing your smaller friends into them.

  19. OverlandSi Says:

    @Robbie – glad you enjoyed. I was actually humming Flight of the Valkyries whilst going through it – I cracked up laughing at the other side of it, think the people coming the opposite must have looked at me and just thought “weirdo”
