Hello all and welcome to my little corner of the blogosphere.

So, you’re probably here for a reason – if that reason is to find out a little more about me then this page is the place.

Name: Simon Gardner, AKA – Overland Si or Muppet.

Occupation:  Freelance Writer, Traveller Extraordinaire and Semi-Talented “Videographer”.

I was born and brought up in Germany as part of an army family.  Moving every couple of years ind of instilled travel into me, that coupled with family holidays in campervans and caravans throughout the years have really formed my idea of a “proper” holiday.

I quit my job at the end of February 2009, amid the worst economic depression this country has seen.  Many people ask me why.  I still can’t give them an answer.

It has a lot to do with this post here maybe.

It also has a lot to do with the fact that I usually get a “two year itch”.  You know the one I mean, most people get it every seven years and want to change everything.  Well for me it is more like every two years.

But I think more than all that it is this:  There is a bloody lot to discover, and not a hell of a lot of time to do it in.

Well I decided that life was too boring just sat at home being unemployed so I decided to go on a small(ish) trip around the far corners of Scandinavia and Europe.  See the “Travels” menu at the top of this page for more details.
